Free cancellation when plans change

We know travel plans shift. BookmyStay's tiered policy lets you cancel without losing everything.

How our refund tiers work

Refunds depend on how far in advance you cancel a confirmed booking:

  • 7 days or more before check-in — full refund (100%) of room charges.
  • 48 hours to 7 days before check-in — 50% refund.
  • Less than 48 hours before check-in — non-refundable.

Service fees and any third-party tour add-ons are refunded based on the supplier's terms.

Pending bookings

If the host hasn't confirmed yet, you can cancel for free at any time — no charge will be processed.

Refund timing

Mobile money refunds typically arrive in 1-3 business days. Card refunds can take 5-10 business days depending on your bank.

Host-cancelled bookings

If the host cancels on you, you receive a full refund regardless of timing — plus a 10% rebooking credit on your next stay.

Travel insurance

For longer or higher-value trips, we recommend Tanzania-licensed travel insurance — many policies cover cancellation due to illness or weather.

How to cancel

  1. Sign in and open My Bookings from your account menu.
  2. Tap the booking you want to cancel.
  3. In the right-side actions panel, click Cancel booking.
  4. Optionally tell us why — it helps us improve.
  5. Refunds are issued automatically based on the policy above.

Force majeure exceptions

Where Tanzanian government travel advisories, natural disasters, or health emergencies prevent travel, we waive the time-based policy and process full refunds — case-by-case via support.
